By completing this question set, you will be able to apply a systematic stepwise algorithm to interpret pulmonary function test data: (1) assess FEV₁/FVC ratio to classify obstructive vs non-obstructive, (2) measure TLC to confirm restriction when ↓FVC with normal ratio, (3) grade severity by FEV₁ % predicted, (4) integrate DLCO to narrow the differential within obstructive (emphysema vs asthma/chronic bronchitis) and restrictive (parenchymal vs extrapulmonary) categories, and (5) assess bronchodilator response to distinguish reversible from fixed obstruction.
